Natural edge birch burl bowl

While Out hiking with my dog Jasper I came across a nice little birch burl. I could see the “rays” in it just from the chainsaw cut. I knew right then I wouldn’t be able to wait a year or so for it to cure, so decided to turn it green… I turned it down to about 3/8" thick walls and bottom, put it in the microwave for 30 sec intervals. Sanded it down to 1500 grit and finished it with tung oil. It’s been about a week and so far so good, no sign of cracking or warping. It’s in a cool place, in a paper bag with its own shavings, time will tell…
