Giant Schnauzer Carving.

Editor's Choice - May 07, 2015

A good friend of mine wanted me to carve a Giant Schnauzer. So I made it for her…. she is going to give it to her son.. It was a fun project. I cut the body from a block of 2 × 4 and the head from the same stock, then glued the head on the body.. Final carving was about 5" tall. I used a burning tool for texture … my first attempt to do this on a dog carving. I also discovered that by using the lid of a small butter plastic container I could mix the acrylic paints and then close it with the container keeping the paint from drying while I take a brake.

Woods: basswood

Tools: scroll saw dremel tool knives wood burning tool
