I needed a place to organize and protect my table saw accessories, which were stacked here and there on tables and shelves. The materials for the cabinet are mostly salvaged from used furniture or left overs from other projects. The top was salvaged from an old computer work station and all the hardware was recovered from junk furniture. The top drawer is very shallow and holds measuring devices, kerf makers, pencils, etc. The second drawer is deeper and holds push sticks, a dado set, guides, etc. The bottom section has a roll out shelf with full extension slides and holds a couple of circular saws, blades and other larger items. The entire unit fits nicely under the saw table. The miter gauge will be hung on the side for easier access.
The unit is on casters and the drop leaf provides an additional work surface that can be moved around the shop as needed. The support leg is adjustable for the uneven concrete floor. The only issue that I found is a significant pinch point at the hinged support under the drop leaf. The leaf itself is very heavy and if one lifts it from the bottom edge, the leg will drop under its own weight and it will bite! (Lesson learned – lift from the side only!) I may have to engineer a catch to hold the leg in place until the top is lifted and the operator has positioned his hands appropriately before dropping it into position.
