Lemon cutting board

Well here is one of my custom orders from the craft show. The elderly lady requested a 4″×4″ cutting board for cutting lemons. After cutting it to shape and sanded it to 320. I soaked it for 3 hours in mineral oil. Then let it drip dry and the polished it with my coconut oil and Beeswax. She went on to describe to me she had one for many years and can’t find it anymore. She likes that its so small and she doesn’t have to pull out her big board just to cut her lemons for her water. She was excited that I was going to make her one. Well shes going to be more excited when she receives it. Lol

First time I hear about a board to cut just lemon.
At 4×4 it certainly does not take a lot of space.
Cute!

Jim, coconut oil doesn’t go rancid. My wife has a few jugs of it around for health & beauty purposes. It sits around forever and never goes bad. However, recently we opened one and found something resembling mold inside. I think one of the kids got their hands into it and left something behind. Dang kids. But the oil itself won’t go bad if kept clean. We even leave it in a bowl in open air with no problems.

Anyway, it will probably be 100% gone after being subjected to one use of lemon cutting and then rinsing in the sink. Citric acid is a pretty good degreaser.

Well done. As everyone has said, haven’t had the experience of such a small cutting board. Makes a great deal of sense. My wife could use one for her cherry tomatoes that she cuts up for tacos. Got me thinking.

Well that elderly lady said she had one for many years and can’t find it anymore. Yes she cuts fresh lemons every single day to make lemon water. Well im not going to argue with a seet elderly woman. I look at it this way she knows something i don’t and just gave me a money making idea.
a1jim no as Brian stated coconut oil is used in everything. It will last for a very long time. Here is an artical about different oils. http://www.cuttingboard.com/blog/what-type-of-oils-are-safe-to-use-on-your-cutting-board/
