PLYWOOD BALL

This is a new design for a spherical. 180 triangles of vertically laminated plywood that built on the same principle of the soccer ball. 20 hexagons and 12 pentagons. But, each hexagon made of 6 triangles and each pentagon made of 5 triangles. The number 180 doesn’t include the number of plies in each triangle. If I added that number, the number would be more than one and a half thousand. It is 160 mm in diameter and around 15 mm thick wall.

Wow. How do you get the joints so tight before turning? It’s perfection.

Very impressive! Very nicely done! Do you have that spherical turning attachment for the lathe?

Very intriguing piece. Well done, a lot of calculations then a ton of work without even turning, then a beautiful job making it round. Absolutely beautiful piece of art.
