Picnic Wine table

Not an original idea but my father wanted one so I built it for fathers day for him. I forgot to get some pics so these are the ones he sent me.

I did make one modification to the design that I hadn’t seen done before. I got some rare earth magnets that came with flush mount cups and flushed them into the base where it meets the stop on the top. They keep the top locked into the to up position really well.

The base is 3 layers of 3/4" plywood, and the spike is a 3/4" dowel that is secured with a screw but can be removed and replaced if broken.

The top is 2 layers of 3/4" plywood. all the edges of both the top and bottom were rounded over on the router table with a 5/8" round over.

All coated in 5 coats of an good outdoor Polly and sanded in betwen each coat.

Tools: router table saw jigsaw nailgun etc random orbit sander

If you dont like what you can buy, build it.

I left mine natural pine so now it has wine and grass stains everywhere making it rustic beside the campfire. Well done.
