Simple Pine Casket

Casket from pine. My goal with building caskets has always been to keep things simple for those that like simple things. And for those that may not be otherwise able to afford a steel casket.

FTC Funeral Rule states: The funeral provider cannot refuse to handle a casket or urn you bought online, at a local casket store, or somewhere else — or charge you a fee to do it. The funeral home cannot require you to be there when the casket or urn is delivered to them.

Nice, what is the weight limit on these? Not th a t I have a use for one yet but, one never knows. Lol.

Michael Ray ...

Hey James, I usually load test them to 400+ pounds. I have a way to suspend the casket from it’s handles and add weight to make sure they are sturdy before adding the bedding. I’ve even stood upright in them while suspended and walked back and forth and stood with all my weight focused in between 2 sets of handles.

I like it , If I make one , I’m going to put cork board on the bottom side of the lid. People can put pictures or notes on it before they close it up.

Thanks for the comments. Bruce, great idea! I have made others with a lip on the inside and people were putting pictures there.
