PLANE FLOWER

This flower is made from shavings created with the hand plane I posted a while ago .
https://woodworkingweb.com/creations/1990-plane-2
I started with a SPILL ( a very tight spiral shaving that used to be used to light candles etc. in the days before matches )as a core and glued petals to the spill slightly increasing the size of the petals in size toward the bottom .The petals are formed by wetting the shavings and cutting them to shape and then bent to shape into the compound curve which is fairly easy after a bit of practise .The flower is finished with spray lacquer to preserve it and keep its shape better.

Comments and questions welcome .

First, this is extraordinary
and second… it looks like a “challenge” to me…. get your planes out everyone, what can you create with those little slips of wood? (besides a pile on the floor)
