Cherry and Walnut Jewelry Cabinet
The bookmatched cherry doors are made from a piece of discarded cherry left over from a previous project. The knot in the cherry board had long ago fallen out and the piece was tossed into the scrap bin. By resawing the board with my bandsaw, I was able to obtain the bookmatched cherry doors using the knot holes as a convenient way to open the doors.
The jewelry cabinet is made from air dried black walnut. The six drawers are made of black walnut with half blind dovetails and cherry pulls.

Roger,
That’s very creative . . . a nice use of something that many of us without your artistic eye might throw away.

Fantastic! Great idea. Beautiful.
That is a beautiful piece! Love the doors. I look for wood with such “Character” just for such effects. Beautifully designed.
Excellent job , nice way to use the discarded piece .
Roger,
Had to stop and look. Glad i did. The walnut on the sides is a great add. Love the creativity and integration. I’m thinking about what Krenov said about composing a piece. Nicely done.
This piece is spectacular! What a beautiful use of that otherwise discarded piece. And that walnut grain detail photo made me gasp audibly! Fantastic work.
That’s really beautiful and creative. Very nice!
Unique and well done!
