I always seem to have small pieces of waste laying around. This is a small piece of rock maple that I trimmed and sanded to 4000 grit then polished using a piece of ebony. I made one for the wifey last week for her to have as a stress reliever. Like the old days when people used a rosary or worry beads to rub between the thumb and forefinger. She would take the first one to work and use it while trying to collect bills from clients. The next day I had requests from the rest of her staff. So I made another six. Every day I have people stop in the workshop for various reasons and the more people who see these little things the more I am making. People seem to be engaged with them as soon as they pick them up. The smoothness has a lot to do with it but the thumb movement has a calming effect. Easy to make, cheap and easy to stick in a pocket, if you can put it down!
