Shaker Side Table

I made this several years ago for my daughter, it was the first of the three pieces she wanted. The wood is African Mahogany, made using only hand tools. The drawer has hand cut half blind dovetails in the front and thru dovetails in the back. As an added secret, I inlaid a Susan B. Anthony coin in the back of the drawer front. And since I didn’t want to breakup the view of the grain on the drawer front, instead of adding a knob to the front; I hand carved a drawer pull on the bottom of the drawer. You just reach underneath the drawer and use your fingers on the pull to open the drawer.

Woods: african mahogany

Tools: hand planes hand saw chisels

I do like a nice little Shaker table and this is very nice. Good idea for the drawer. Keeps it clean.
